WHAT IS A CORNICELLO

A Cornicello or ‘Corno’ is an Italian traditional symbol to protect against the Malocchio (Evil Eye in Italian). The Cornicello represents a strong Italian tradition and originates from the city of Naples, It is used widely throughout Italy but is more prevalent in the southern towns of Italy, especially Sicily.

A little background story to the Cornicello, it's well known for its famous shape like a red chilli or horn. The Cornicello is worn as a statement piece of jewellery or displayed in homes as a décor piece to protect the wearer or the home from the Malocchio or Evil Eye. It is traditionally known to bring good luck and protection to the homeowner and wearer.

The Cornicello is traditionally red but jewellery pieces are now being made in gold and silver. The Cornicello symbolizes good luck through the protection against negative energy and ill intentions and is used to prevent negative influences but also to bring positive blessings into your life.

At Bella Amore, both the Cornicello and Evil Eye bring the same values as one another, through either jewellery or décor accessories as they are both much-loved pieces of Bella Amore’s Identity and Italian culture.
